The Flowers and the Weeds - what thinking patterns are we cultivating

Once upon a time, there was a woman who loved flowers and had always dreamed of having a garden full of color, fragrance, and life. One day, she moved into a house with an empty backyard. Seeing that blank space filled her heart with joy: now she could create the most beautiful garden she had ever imagined.
Every weekend, she planted and cared for flowerbeds with devotion. Some flowers sprouted, but were quickly overrun by weeds that grew wild and fast.
The flowers had no space or nourishment to thrive. The weeds took over.

She wondered: Why isn’t it working? Maybe I just don’t know how. Maybe flowers aren’t meant for me. Maybe… I’m not a good person.
And the more she doubted herself, the faster the weeds grew.
In time, she gave up on the garden. She let the weeds take over and got used to their dull, lifeless green. When a flower bloomed, she barely noticed, it never lasted long.
One day, taking a different route to work, she passed by an enchanting garden, so alive, so blooming, that she stopped just to breathe it in.
Curious and newly hopeful, she looked for the woman who tended it.
The gardener smiled gently and said:

— "I learned that I can choose to grow flowers or weeds, but not both.At first, the weeds overran everything here, too. But I realized they only grow if I feed them. Weeds are our negative thoughts, harsh judgments, old pain, and heavy memories."
— "And what did you do with them?" she asked, surprised.
— "I learned to notice them early and not let them take over. Not with anger, but with love. Every time I pull one out, I make space for something beautiful. I started focusing on the little joys of each day, on memories of love and my dreams for the future. It wasn’t easy, but over time, the positive grew stronger and the negative lost power."
— "So you don’t have any weeds anymore?"
— "Oh, I do. Sometimes they come back. But now I know how to care for my garden."

That day, the woman came home with dirt on her hands and hope in her heart.
For the first time in a long while, she knelt down and began to pull the weeds, one by one.She made space, slowed down, listened and realized how many good things had been waiting for the light.
Some weeds came out easily. Others resisted, with deep roots. But she kept going.
And for the first time, she saw a flower grow. Then another. And another.
She understood: dreaming of flowers is not enough. You have to tend the soil. Clear it. Choose what you grow.
Little by little, her garden began to bloom. And soon, it was as beautiful as the one she had seen, maybe even more.
Just like she had always dreamed. But now, with deeper roots and wiser love.

And you?
What kinds of thoughts are you feeding each day?
How many flowers could bloom if you gently pulled out the weeds growing in your mind?
Tend to your thoughts. They are the seeds of your inner garden.
Namaste!
